Coin Help??????????????????

Your coin is clified a a Spanish American Colonial coin. It is a 2 Reale coin and it is silver. The mint mark is not ME but a monogram of the letters LIMAE that stand for the Lima mint in Peru. The initials after the value (2R) are IJ. They are for the mint ayer. Since you say it is dark, I will take it that it is sea salvage or was burried in the ground. It's reference number is KM#76 under Peru. It is valued at $5 to $25 depending on grade. Since you said it was dark I will guess that it grades about good to say fine. It is a collectable coin and many Americans collect them. The coin was legal tender in the U.S. up to 1857 but was used in the west even longer. You have a historic coin but it's history maybe more than it's monetary value. I would keep it for the value can only go up. Hope this answers your question.
