Do Ahead Aluminum drumsticks Damage your drum heads or cymbals?

Im think about buying a set, im to the point now where im breaking at least 2 or 3 sets a week, and im Not using cheep drum sticks, What Are the advantages/ Disadvantages of aluminum sticks, What kind of sound do the produce if any different from a regular stick, Are they easier to jam with?
