If Thea colliding with Earth caused it to spin what made Mars?

If Earth started at 4 hour days and now it has slowed to 24 why is Mars, same age but smaller, rotating at similar day? Is it speeding up or slowing, or always been the same? And no moon! Yet has a stable axis?
