well coyotes are very territorial animals and when provoked will attack but i think he was warning the others of his pack. be very careful though we have a lot oc coyotes around our house and they are Always trying to bait my dog to come out so they can attack her and take her down if need be give them a few warning shots of the coyotes will get bold and come up to the house
